#ImagineCup 2012 – IT Challenge Short Statistics – Round 1

 

This article represents a personal analysis based on public information from the LeaderBoard. These interpretations have a personal and do not represent the official position of ImagineCup. Any ranking or top of this article, has no consequence on the final score of the Round 2.

As you probably know, was completed Round 1 of the IT Challenge section from Imagine Cup.

Total participating countries: 83
Total unique competitors: 3716
Unique qualifiers in Round 2: 990

I do not have information on the actual number of registered student in the competition. In the past editions the number of registered students was officially included among the 19,000 and 27,000 depends by editions.

Informații pe secțiuni

La Software Design trebuie să trimiteți propunerile de proiecte până pe data de 13 martie 2012. Un chestie bulversantă este informația de pe http://www.imaginecup.com/Competition/sdlocalsites.aspx în care dacă dăm click pe România ni se spune că nu se organizează finală națională!!! Eu nu știu ce să mai cred atâta timp cât alte informații oficiale nu avem decât de pe site-ul competiției.

Din alte surse datele ar fi cam așa:

  • Etapa locala, pe centru universitar ( intre 1 si 15 aprilie )
  • Finala națională (între 1 si 15 mai)

La IT Challenge mai avem un ultim quiz (Quiz 6) pe data de 26 ianuarie 2012, și cu asta încheiem runda I. După finalizarea rundei I, vom avea un live meeting la nivel global cu studenții din întreaga lume și cu echipa de judecători, în care se vor explica detalii pentru Runda a doua.

Despre celelalte secțiuni nu mai avem nici un fel de noutăți față de numerele trecute.

Biggest surprise for Quiz 4 was the number of competitors from China and Netherlands. There is great revenue for Chinese students, a country with big tradition in IT challenge, and numerous positions on Final Podium.

Competitors top is somehow identically with precedent one.

Q. Why is based on the sum of the top scores?

A. Because it is a criterion measure of competitiveness. The more you are involved in competition and better prepared you can get a bigger score and a better position in the rankings.

 

What’s next?

Australia 2012! But we first must finish First Round and after that Second round.
